Studio

Denim Alchemy is a denim studio built on technical experience and material understanding.

I’m Serhat, and my background spans denim product development, textile engineering, research & development, washing, dyeing, and sustainable manufacturing across global mills and fashion brands.

Churri operates as part of Denim Alchemy — the broader studio practice behind the work.

Across both, the approach is the same: materials are not fixed in value. Through process, understanding, and time, they can be reworked into something new.

Denim Alchemy brings that thinking into a focused, studio-led practice.

Every piece begins with material — fibre, fabric, weight, and structure. From there, I work through construction, wash development, and finishing with a full understanding of how each decision shapes form, function, and longevity.

Traditional craftsmanship sits alongside textile science and modern garment technology. Nothing is accidental. Every process is considered.

A large part of the work is built around existing materials.

I work with deadstock denim and pre-loved garments, extending their life through reconstruction and refinement.

This approach reduces waste and prioritises what already exists over what needs to be created.

Sustainability at Denim Alchemy is not a statement — it is embedded in the process.

It comes through restraint, material awareness, and making garments designed to last and evolve over time.

After years working in the textile industry across Türkiye and Asia, I’ve seen the impact of overproduction and fast fashion on both people and the environment.

Denim Alchemy is my response — not through scale, but through precision.

Based in Geelong, Victoria, Denim Alchemy is a small studio where every piece is developed with intention, care, and technical control.

At Denim Alchemy, denim is built with intention — shaped by experience and finished by hand.
